Supporting inclusive practice
The resources in Musical School’s ASN section support teachers working with children and young people with additional support needs and disabilities – in special schools, alternative provision or mainstream settings and across all ages and abilities.
Every resource in this section can be mixed and matched with other content and materials on the Charanga platform or with your own. Collect everything together in My Workspace or use our Scheme-builder tool to create a set of resources or a bespoke scheme that perfectly matches your setting.
our ASN section has four areas:
The Anyone Can Play Scheme
The Anyone Can Play Scheme is an inclusive, standalone set of progressive Units with lesson plans. It can be used to support students at any point on the learning difficulty spectrum and is ideal for non-specialist teachers. Although there are whiteboard resources, the Scheme works equally well without them.
The award-winning ASN CREATE offers four outstanding projects with in-depth video support, showing students how to use iPads to compose, improvise and perform. The projects are designed to work across the ASN spectrum, from PMLD settings to PRUs and are suitable for all learners.
The ASN Resource Library brings together bespoke versions of the most popular Musical School resources as used by teachers in special schools across the Charanga community.
The Signed Songs collection is a set of videos with signs from musician and music teacher Samantha Harper. The collection offers an additional way to communicate the words and meaning of the repertoire and is presented in alphabetical order for easy access.
